The galactic market is a total immersion braker for me. Choosing and upgrading what i want with a fes clicks Give me a starbase designer like we have for fleets, maybe we get them useful in the lategame.

You click, do smoething else, forget it for decades and when the war starts your bastion is only half build. But in the lategame, building and upgrading starbases is part of the boring tasks to do. The fleetmanager was part of it, and there are still severe bugs if you use it. One of the best gameplay decisions for me was the change of 2.0, to hyperlanes and starbases.

The game is stil suffering from this desaster, 1,5 years of continued development and stil not in a good spot for extended campaigns. I rolled back to 2.1 after 3hs into a campaign, it was unplayable. I was with all design decisions and then: 2.2 dropped. I really liked the idea of this game and the marketing idea of providing changes together with DLC for a long time. I started playing Stellaris right after the release of Utopia. The problem is that I really miss a lot of the added features of 2.x.ĭarned-if-you-do-Darned-if-you-don't. What 1.9.1 does well 2.x simply doesn't compete with. Unfortunately the above leaves me in a not-awesome place. No end-game whack-a-mole once everyone has jump drives.Artifacts & 'quest chains' that have benefits.I miss how easy it is to leverage the market to bail you out economically.I miss the new buffs that Federations give you.I miss not having a good way to better manage 'admin cap' - ok the current solution isn't good HOWEVER it's something.I forgot how much micro was in the tile system when you had to manage a lot of planets but were not quite rich enough to just throw new planets into sectors and forget about them.I missed the fixes so that when a Curator 'contract' ran out you could be prompted for renewal.I missed the ability to 'Play Tall' and still be able to leverage MEGASTRUCTURES to give me the ability to build a fleet that could contend with 'end game events'.I missed having empire-wide decisions/edicts as opposed to planet-by-planet edicts.With 'Warp Drive 1' I could reach ONLY two systems - the other systems would have needed Warp Drive 2. in this specific case I spawned on the extreme edge of a spiral galaxy. I miss having 'Robot workers' making my bots for me.

HOWEVER there are a lot of things about 2.x that I really missed after rolling back:

The AI was actually competitive enough in economy, tech, unity, and using game-features.

Consistent performance - no worrying about end-game really dragging down.

Theoretically features like 'Awakened Empires' & 'Crisis' would actually be a challenge.

All 'original features' were in the game and then some.

Honestly some things were pretty darned good: After getting super-bored I talked one of my friends, who left the game when 2.2 was released, into rolling back Stellaris to 1.9.x figuring this would be awesome. I am one of those people that thought that 1.9.1 was pretty much 'peak Stellaris' and in MANY ways that holds true enough.
